My family has been part of this special island community since 1989, with property ownership spanning generations. My parents were charter members of the club and my wife and I – both practicing architects – designed and built our current home on Marsh Haven Rd. where we have lived full time since 2023. We’ve been married for 36 years, and this island has been like a second home to our three children, who have grown up making lifelong memories here.
Professionally, I owned and operated an architectural firm in Charlotte for over 30 years. That expertise has given me a strong foundation in listening, building consensus, and managing complex projects. I bring a deep understanding of problem solving, the design process, construction, permitting, regulatory issues, funding, and budgeting – all critical skills that directly translate to the needs of our community as we plan for the future.
On the island, I currently serve on the Architectural Review Committee, where I recently chaired a subcommittee to update our Policies and Procedures. I also serve on the Long-Range Planning Committee and participated as a task force member during the recent master planning effort.
Now retired, I am committed to giving back to the community that has given so much to my family. My focus is on protecting what makes this island unique – ensuring financial stability, preserving our beachfront, responsibly updating our infrastructure, and preparing for the long-term threats of sea level rise, storms, and climate change.
I believe in a practical, common-sense approach to problem-solving – grounded in respect for all voices and building consensus for thoughtful, lasting solutions.
