SIPOA has established a compost collection site at the existing trash and recycling center.
Compostable items can be brought here and deposited in one of the two collection containers (see photo). The containers will be emptied every Tuesday and Friday, and the materials will be hauled to the Charleston County compost facility to be processed as a compost.
This is a new sustainability initiative we hope residents will elect to participate in. Details on what is and not compostable can be found in the photos below or on Charleston County’s website.
2026 Update | Some renovations are underway at the recycle center this year. The compost bins have been relocated to the opposite side of the driveway, immediately adjacent to the Club laundry building. The new location is marked and will help reduce non-compost items being placed into the bins. We will also be adding lighting and additional cameras to help enforce illegal dumping at the recycling center.
