Mike Sankovich

My name is Michael Sankovich. My wife Katherine and I have been married for 36 years. We vacationed at Seabrook in the late 90’s with our two children and fell in love with the area. We bought a Summerwind Cottage in 2014 and moved here full time in January 2018.

We are now retired. I worked on Wall Street for nearly 36 years in the Sales and Trading departments of major investment banking firms; Salomon Brothers, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch and Cantor Fitzgerald. My focus included bank regulation and accounting, balance sheet management and derivatives.

While on Seabrook, I have been on various SIPOA committees; Activities and the Newcomers Reception Subcommittee, LRP Facilities Subcommittee, and the Architectural Review Committee. I did some delivery for Backpack Buddies as well. Participation of our neighbors across committees of the SIC, SIPOA and charities is admirable. I wish to participate further as well. I think folks I have worked with find that I have a strong attention to detail and that I am respectful of differences of opinion.

Professionally, I have dealt with challenges to success; some regulations, policies and hard facts cannot be changed but must be dealt with nevertheless. Life on Seabrook faces similar challenges.  We live on an island with a physical boundary. Our island is about the most idyllic place on earth, and accordingly,  the influx of  full time residents is on the rise. We need to ensure that our facilities and homes remain first class and complementary to Seabrook’s natural beauty.  With some forward thinking and hard work I think we can find that balance between needing to accommodate a larger population and the comforts and pleasures we on Seabrook Island are entitled to. I think my past experience will help us find this balance.
