Jean Daly

In November of 2018, I retired from the reinsurance industry after 42 years.  During this period I worked for two companies, General Reinsurance Corporation for 10 years, and Towers Perrin Reinsurance  Brokerage division for 32.  I grew my career from an Executive Secretary to Senior Vice President and shareholder of Towers Perrin.  Outside of my business career I ran an annual Turkey Trot to benefit the American Red Cross, was President of our homeowner’s association where we lived in a 22 standalone homeowners association, and volunteered two days a week at a very affluent nursing home in the memory care unit.

Seabrook Island was introduced to me by Coby Van de Graaf in the 1980’s.  Coby was the CEO of the Towers Perrin Brokerage Division, and our annual production meetings were held at Seabrook Island back in the day when they had the conference facilities.  Needless to say, I fell in love with Seabrook Island and in 2004 purchased a Spinnaker Beach House.  In 2005 I met my now husband, Art Dougherty, and over the years we enjoyed vacationing on Seabrook Island with family and friends.  It didn’t take long for us to determine that when the time came we would retire on Seabrook Island.  In 2020, we sold our Villa, and purchased our retirement home.  We became permanent residents of Seabrook Island in 2021.

With the benefit of the skills I developed in my career, from a well organized senior executive secretary, to location operations manager, and finally, to a reinsurance broker working with worldwide reinsurance companies, I developed strong people skills.

I believe all of the above mentioned accomplishments, plus my love for Seabrook Island and being a strong people person, makes me a good candidate for the nomination committee. If appointed to the nominating committee, I will vet owners’ needs and wants and vet the most suitable candidates for the board who: 1) are open minded and can embrace the Master Plan; 2) address beach preservation, restoration and renourishment programs; 3) address comprehensive flooding and drainage management; 4) address the safety of our shared roads; and, 5) are able to address any other needs of our community as they arise.
