Evacuation
Seabrook Island is in Charleston County Evacuation Zone A. If an Evacuation Order is issued by the Town of Seabrook Island, the evacuation route is Main Road, to US 17 South to SC 64 to Walterboro, then to Aiken and I-20. Leave early if possible to avoid traffic.
Prepare before a storm
- Fuel your car. Gas stations might not be operating after the storm.
- Disconnect any electrical appliances or tools stored under your house.
- Turn off electricity at the main if flooding is near.
- If your home alarm system doesn’t have a batter backup, deactivate it.
- Secure your above-ground LP gas tank(s) – fill to prevent float or breakaway.
- Know evacuation routes from Seabrook Island to safety.

Drive safely during storms
- Avoid flooded roads. Make sure water is not above your car’s wheels.
- Drive slowly in low gear to prevent stalling.
- Listen to your radio for updates.
- Prepare for long Travel. Bring necessary supplies as delays may last up to 12 hours.
- Tell family members where you are and where you plan to be.
After an evacuation
Do not not return to Seabrook Island until the Town has communicated that entry is permitted. Monitor townofseabrookisland.org.
