Bill Breunsbach

I am Bill Breunsbach and I am running for a position on the Seabrook Island Property Owners Association Board of Directors.  My wife, Diane and I have lived in the Lowcountry 24 years and purchased property on Seabrook Island in 2021.  We left the Belfair Golf community (Bluffton, SC) and moved into our new home where we live full-time and enjoying all the amenities and the natural surroundings.  We have two married sons and five grandchildren who all love coming to Seabrook Island for golf, the beach, the pool, dining and the wildlife that surrounds us.

I am a graduate Civil Engineer and worked in the construction industry for 28 years for the Kiewit Companies, one of the largest construction companies in North America.  Over my career, I managed numerous large construction projects including highways, bridges, mass transit, and offshore oil platforms.  Kiewit is an employee-owned company and as an owner, I went to work every day spending our project budget as if it was my own money.  While living in Belfair, I volunteered for over 20 years in various assignments.  I served on the ARB Committee, the Board of Directors, the Engineering Committee, Long Range Planning, and managed the repaving of Belfair’s roads.  I also volunteered 9 years at the United Way of the Lowcountry (Beaufort, SC) as Chair of the Community Grant Committee and was selected to serve on the Board of Directors.  While here in Seabrook Island, I have served on the General Operating and Maintenance Committee (GOMC) for 3 years and on the BOD of the Photography Club.  Working on the GOMC committee has offered me the opportunity each year to be involved in reviewing the list of the Capital Budget Projects before it is sent to the BOD for approval and included in next year’s budget.

To fulfill Seabrook’s vision statement of “sustaining and renewing our Island’s natural beauty and experience a wonderful quality of life” we need to maintain a strong infrastructure to sustain our natural environment. I feel my past experiences will be valuable to help evaluate the necessary actions we need to take as board members to enhance and protect our Island.  If I get elected to the BOD, my goals are to build consensus among the property owners, operate in a fiscally sound manner and enhance the natural beauty of our wonderful island.  Our actions have consequences for future generations.
